Band Aid 20 Tops United Kingdom Charts

Twenty years after the original release, the Band Aid charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" has again debuted at number one on the UK charts.

The re-recorded single, which features a host of current chart stars including Coldplay's Chris Martin, Paul McCartney, The Darkness and Dizzee Rascal, sold a reported 300,000 copies during it's first week of release - with all profits going towards African charity relief.

Second highest new entry this week is Ice Cube's "You Can Do It" ft. Mack 10 and MS Toi, Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" enters at five, Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" is new at six, Pete Doherty's Babyshambles land a major new entry at eight and Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like Its Hot" ft. Pharrell enters at ten.

Other notable new entries this week include Razorlight's "Rip It Up" at 20 and The Streets' "Could Well Be In" at number 30.

U2 continue to reign over the album charts with "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb".

New entries include Lemar's "Time To Grow" at eight, Brian McFadden's "Irish Son" at 24 and Linkin Park/Jay-Z with "Collision Course" at 38.
